Vaahteramäen Eemeli

Från 10 €

Our play, Vaahteramäen Eemeli, tells about a little boy Eemeli, who lives with his family in Vaahteramäki (Maplehill). The original story is written by Swedish Astrid Lindgren, who wrote a series of children’s novels about this little prankster.

Eemeli lives on the farm Catholt around the year 1900, with his youger sister Ida, mother Alma and father Anton, the farmhand Aatu – Eemeli’s best friend – and the farm maid Liina, who is unable to tolerate Eemeli’s mischief. Sometimes Lingonberry-Maja comes to help with domestic work and tell Eemeli and Ida scary stories about ghosts, murders and all kinds of strange things.

Eemeli is kind boy, but things just happen to him. His pranks are always innocent and good-hearted, but especially father can’t stand them. In this play we see the world without technology – just people, who are a very strong community. Children are children, not little adults and the whole world was a little better place – or was it?
