Kajaani City Theatre

Also called the National Theatre of Kainuu, the theatre offers artistically ambitious and audience-friendly performances both on its stages in the Kajaani city centre at Teatteritalo and Sissilinna, and through its regional theatre activities in 38 municipalities. Kajaani City Theatre is considered one of the most interesting theatres in our country and is known for its courage in including new premieres in its repertoire and has been awarded many times for, among other things, its distinctive programme choices and high-quality children's theatre.

Kajaani City Theatre produces an average of six premieres per year, at least two of which are regional theatre touring programmes. There are over 300 performances per year, about a third of which are touring performances.

In autumn 2025, the theatre will introduce a translation application, which will also allow international visitors to experience the magic of theatre in Kajaani. Musical play Armi Aavikko – In Between I Was Alive translated performances:
