Nestled in the heart of the Finnish countryside, Peukaloinen Nature & Wellness House is a charming retreat set amidst peaceful forests and open fields. Once the village school of Markkuu, this lovingly restored venue is located at Ängeslevän Ylipääntie 6, 91800 Tyrnävä.

Steeped in the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of an old rural schoolhouse, Peukaloinen offers an inspiring setting for groups of all kinds—from school camps and workshops to team-building days, meetings, and small private celebrations. Overnight stays and exclusive bookings, such as school camps or wellness retreats, are available by arrangement.

The main event spaces—Niittysali (Meadow Hall) and Metsäsali (Forest Hall)—can be combined to accommodate up to 100 guests. Niittysali features AV equipment, a piano, and cozy seating and dining arrangements. Metsäsali, with its open layout, is ideal for physical activities like yoga or gymnastics. Smaller rooms such as Peukaloinen's Workshop and the upstairs Pöllönkolo (Owl’s Nest) offer quiet spaces for focused work. A fully equipped kitchen is available for guests, with tableware for up to 45 people and coffee service for around 50.

Outdoors, guests will find a parking area, children’s playground, a field suitable for football or ice skating, and open grassy areas. Just steps away, the Haltijapolku Nature Trail invites visitors to test their balance and coordination with interactive stations, while a fitness stairway provides a great option for an outdoor workout.

The 10-kilometre Markkuu Nature Trail, starting from the property, winds through lush river landscapes, suspension bridges, and gently rolling forest terrain—perfect for hiking, meditative walks, or a peaceful picnic. Along the way, designated campfire spots and poetry rest areas invite you to pause, reflect, and reconnect with nature.
