Why Merikoivula and how did it get started?
The current owner has been vacationing and fishing in various parts of Finland for 30 years with his family and friends, sometimes with business partners. In recent years, he began to come across the fact that four families didn’t seem to fit right into anything. Here and there were a couple of adjoining cottages built in the 70s, but half of the group had to spend the night somewhere far away, up to 10-20 km from others.
No ramp for launching boats was found at several locations. Boat docks, boat rentals, tables for cleaning fish were in most places either in poor condition or completely missing. It all left the feeling that this form of vacation has not received enough attention. So originally it was planned to build something just for the own family and friends, but then he saw Merikoivula and the story begun, in June 2019.
A new Fishing- and Holiday Village Merikoivula has been created in the Turku Archipelago, Lokalahti between Turku and Uusikaupunki. 
Merikoivula has actually been known for locals by the name since 1969, when a closed holiday and recreation area for the Raisio Mills was built here.
Merikoivula has been privately owned since 2008 and has new owner since 2019.
Thanks to the huge renovation project last year, the whole area of 15 hectares has got a new look. 
We built 7 new Villas for 8 persons, the original summer cottages and Holm villas have been renovated in accordance with modern customer requirements.
Merikoivula has its own customer marina with motorboats for rent, and after a successful fishing trip, the catch can be gutted at the clearing tables in the harbor and barbecue hut.
If you have your own boat, you will find a concrete ramp next to the dock. The price of the rental boat also includes a tank of fuel.
There is a barbecue shed with smoke ovens and grill for making fish. A rather awesome Kamado Joe grill can be found on the terrace of each villa.
There are also two saunas - a sauna for 15 people in connection with the meeting and an eight-person beach sauna Holm, which was completed in spring 2021.
The meeting room can accommodate a maximum of 60 people and whole Village can accommodate almost 100 persons. 
We have two freshly coated tennis courts surrounded by a fence, a football and volleyball court, children’s playgrounds, and a power court. 
230 km by car from Helsinki, 65 km from Turku, 16 km from Uusikaupunki by car or 7 km by boat by the sea.
