Hetta-Pallas autumn hike 10.9-13.9.2025
Come with us to experience a genuine fell hike on Finland's oldest hiking trail, which was first marked on the terrain in 1934. This is an iconic hiking destination that runs through breathtaking fell landscapes. The hike is carried out with overnight stays in reserved huts and takes place at a time when the colors of leaves, twigs and grasses are at their most beautiful. Most often, the autumn colors in Northern Lapland take place in the second week of September.
The hike heads to the western Lapland slopes of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, on Finland's oldest hiking trail, Hetta-Pallas. The open fell terrain makes the trail connecting Hetta and Pallas unique, as up to 40km of the trail is traveled in treeless fell areas. In general, the route can be considered quite demanding in terms of ascents, descents and ground conditions, and the open fell sections also make the route exposed to wind. However, this hike is also suitable for beginner hikers in good basic condition, because our pace during the hike is calm.
During the hike, we will stay three nights in reserved cabins, which have been reserved for the customer through us in advance. The reserved cabins have a stove and wood for heating the cabin, a gas stove and some necessary cooking utensils, and the beds have mattresses, pillows and blankets. However, it is recommended to reserve a light sleeping pad and sleeping bag for yourself (hygiene).
